Hire Me

Posted in Brainburp, Music, Personal, Work Stuff by It's Lucy! on June 1, 2011

Right, so things have not been so peachy lately in the cash inflow department, and so I’m using my dear blog as a platform to hooker my writing, producing, SEO, event planning, marketing, PR, etc. skills*. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am a girl of many creative talents and abilities, and they are currently all up for grabs for you to employ.

1. I am a versatile and experienced writer,  journalist and blogger.

I have been working in journalism since I was 15. I put my international relations education to good use and wrote about politics and economy for a Styria Media Group publication, I wrote about fashion for the London Sketchbook Magazine, Australian Kismet Magazine, and New York based In*Tandem Magazine. I blogged about celebrities, gossip, music and fashion for  luuux.com, I still write about fabulous travel destinations and all the cocktails you can drink there at findmybeach.com  and I write about music for East London’s sweetheart Don’t Panic. I was a music columnist for RSQ magazine and I am currently a London-based reporter for various Slovenian publications.  I know the ins and outs of journalism, I am clever, savvy and fearless. I can write outstanding articles, which will make you laugh, cry or ponder your very self, and I can do it in not only in one, but in TWO LANGUAGES.

2. I am a machine-like copywriter.

I can turn tedious bits of information or dry PR newsletters into something enjoyable yet educational, or short and snappy, or cutesy and sweet, or crass and funny, or (insert what the client is looking for) and I can do so around the hour, every single day, Monday to Friday. My creative juices don’t get scared when they have to be fertile within extremely narrow directions, but take those directions as a challenge and own them. I wrote copy for websites like ehow.comcracked.com, livestrong.comdia-botique.com and USA Today. I know how to take directions and how to generate  an A++  copy of whatever is thrown at me, every single time and no matter the topic.

3. The media industry is my playground.

I worked in the media for 11 years and I know the industry like the back of my hand. I wrote and produced radio, television and online segments, I was a part of the Talent and Music team at MTV, I produced weekly music shows, I did PR for a leading Slovenian agency, and worked in a small but courageous advertising bureau. There is not a part of this game that I don’t know how to play. I am resourceful, creative, extremely driven, superbly organized and incredibly reliable.

4. I am a rockstar event planner.

I have organized and co-ordinated numerous events, photo and video shoots, concerts and conferences, and have been involved in every part of the process from venue booking and staff hiring, to writing and distributing press releases and making sure that the people from Elle have the table upfront. I have experience dealing with talent, I met, worked and shot the breeze with artists like The Klaxons, White Lies, Yaysayer and La Roux. I don’t get starstruck, just don’t ever let me nowhere near Thom Yorke without supervision. I am cool, calm and collected, I will get the job done and I won’t stress myself, you or anybody else out while I do it.

5. If you are the music industry, I am your girl!

Music is my passion and the thing I love the most. I plan to know more about it than this guy by the time I’m 30, but I already know quite a bit. I will make sure that whatever I go on doing in life, music will be a part of it.  If I get payed for it, well done me, if not, I will always have my iPod.  So if you are the music industry looking for a writer, journalist, PR, events coordinator, merchandise seller, venue manager, label team member, intern, roadie, tour manager, or just somebody to keep your Bud cold and fetch your fags while you jam on your Fender, drop me a line because I will love my job more than I love my sleep or my food, and I will shine like a star while I take care of business.

6. There’s more!

I’m writing a Master’s thesis in international relations on the topic of Colombian microeconomic setbacks, and will graduate in October.  I am familiar with multiple content management systems, Photoshop, FinalCut Pro, and basic HTML. I speak four languages (English, German, Italian and Slovenian) and am studying two more (French and Spanish). I understand SEO principles and know how to use social media to raise reader engagement, site traffic and/or brand awareness. I am comfortable working on any kind of OS, and despite of being a girl, I understand the world of computers and technology.

7. I am a round-the-clock entertaining center.

I am outspoken, friendly, hilarious and a generally awesome person. I am dead serious about my work, but I know how to have a good time. I am an outgoing nerd, who knows a little something about practically everything. I can discuss the alleged obscenity of Ulysses, the fashion of the Sticky & Sweet Tour, or how rad animals are. I will bring a positive vibe to any workplace or project, and I make a cup of coffee that will make you want to marry me.

So if you happen to know anybody looking for a creative, full-time, part-time, contract or freelance, send them my way! If you don’t, please feel free to retweet, repost, reblog or resend what you’ve just read. Or just hire me.

* I got the idea for helping myself out via my blog from a master of all media trades miss Susannah Breslin.
